What is a Flexible Spending Account?

A flexible spending account is a plan that allows employees to take a portion of their earnings and place it into a group plan. These earnings pay towards qualified expenses. The most common expense is medical and dependent care. Flexible Spending Accounts allow the money from the employee's paycheck to be deducted pre-tax.
